Today I went around town to all of this West Point stuff that's been going on. Amy had to work at some booth during the morning by the river. We watched the boats earlier. (models of the moniter and the merimack) They were fairly interesting. The better part of today was at Ft. Tyler. My mom and I left at 1ish to go check it all out. They had some artifacts that they had found around the fort area; some buttons and bullets. My favorites were a piece of a spoon, a sword broken in two, an eagle off of the handle of a sword, and an old part of a pistol. I had a blast. They had some guys there to act a little. They did some drills for us. One was this 9 count movement that they used to teach soldiers to load their muskets. I got a lot of great pictures. I picked the better one's to share with everyone.

People that spit gum into the road are losers...big losers. Now I must tend to my flip flop.

Hope everyone's weekend's going good. When your only problem is gum on your flip flop, I think life is going pretty good for you. :o) Happy Easter everybody!

Another scholarship interview on Saturday. Ya'll wish me luck. I think that I have a 1 in 3 chance of getting it (75 interviews and their giving 25), so I have pretty good odds. Me and my sister together...the odds of one of us getting it are pretty good too. Anything for my family would be great. I'm going to start packing in a bit, before I get to bed. We're leaving for Birmingham tomorrow afternoon for the interviews first thing in the morning. I get to use my brand new, most awesome bag in the world, to pack my things in. I got it for my birthday from my grandmother, and it has Auburn logos on it. Fun stuff. :o) I can't wait!

I'm letting myself get calmed down right now. Is it so hard to just sit somewhere and not move?!?...you don't care about that, sorry.

I missed American Idol tonight. I taped it last week, but it didn't even cross my mind today. Did anyone catch it? I'm sure Mandissa did fine...probably Chris too. Who's going to go? Anyone?

Also, if anyone thinks they'll be bored this weekend, look into seeing fiddler on the roof in langdale. I think students have some kind of a discount. It's thursday, friday, and saturday at 7, I think. They'll be some stuff in the paper about it tomorrow if I had to guess. Just an idea.

The guys are going for the first game in the final four tonight. I hope they do great! Kick some "tornayda" butt Lanett! I'm waiting on the game to start on the radio. It's supposed to start at 9:30. In the mean time, I have to listen to this station...bleck. Sorry, I just don't like the music they pick out. I really don't like the announcer for the game either, but I'm kinda stuck with him too. He has a habit of not giving Lanett any credit for being good. We win by luck to him. I guess I should stop before I jinx us. Commercial! Maybe it's coming on!

So we did really good at district today. We did a lot better than I thought we would. I was nervous like crazy. I was kind of suprised at myself. The first two songs were probably the best we've played them. The last one could have been better...I missed some notes in that one. The one note that I didn't want to miss, I missed. But it turned out ok. Mr. Washburn said that we would talk about going to state. This is just me, but I'd like to go. I know it's hard, but I'd like to try. I've never been, and I'd just like to see, you know? It's not like it would hurt us to practice sightreading anyway. That's the only way we'll get any better at it. It'll be something different to work on anyway.

Speaking of something different: This play music is making me want to, for the first time since probably bigining band, put fingerings all over my music. I've never marked up music like this before. I like playing it, it's something else other than my solo. I was supposed to learn these exercises for kitty...I guess I have one down. The others are so low that I'm having a hard time reading them. The rehearsals at the playhouse are starting to cut in on my personal practice time. Not much of an excuse, but it's all I've got. It's only for a few more weeks though. I'm enjoying it, so it's not such a big deal.

I really had a great time this weekend. Have you ever just wanted to stay in a moment in time and just never leave? I forgot how much I enjoyed honor bands...

We played some awesome music. I thought our band had some of the better selections of the weekend. They may not have been the hardest, but we made them sound really good. I guess the whole weekend kind of got me pumped up to be in college. Mr. Washburn introduced me to some people, and they seemed alright. I can't wait to get to play with that many people on a daily basis. I think that if you're in a college band, that you probably want to be there, and that just seems like a load of fun to me.

I'm glad that I've decided to go to Auburn. It just fits me, if that makes any sense. The more I thought about Jacksonville, the more I realized that I wouldn't really fit in anywhere. I'm not such a music addict that they are up there. I just like to play; I don't have to be perfect. It wouldn't hurt to be, but I'll be ok if I'm not. Being that way, I don't think that I could really have much in common with them. I don't want to be Jeff's little sister or Tony's friend or anything like that. I just want to be me. I want my own life I guess. I think Auburn will let me have that. I don't want to be attached to my friends from Lanett, some of which don't really seem like they'd want me around anyway. Maybe its time to branch off and make new friends. I need a fresh outlook.

Now; to write a Hamlet report or not to write a Hamlet report?...it's not really a question, I don't have a choice.  :oP

Burial Plots on EBAY [27 Jan 2006|08:34pm]

This was brought up as a joke tonight at dinner and I had to see if it was actually there. I guess they'll sell anything on ebay. Some things that I want to call to your attention: the seller is mysticbluelady (with really good positive feedback!) and the festive colors of the text. The grammer used by mysticbluelady can only be described as professional, and her ability to short hand words shows that she's an easy person to work with. And just north of the "Holy Bible" monument! Where can I sign up? How can they give up such a wonderful thing? Oh, their plans have changed. ( they're not going to DIE! :p )

Hope that everyone's doing alright. (I am looking forward to getting out of school next wednesday!) Although Richard has managed to make it through the parade unharmed, I on the other hand am sore as all get out...did I really just write that? :p Other than that, I'm doing pretty good for the most part. Anyone going anywhere over Christmas? Tell me so I can imagine you all having fun. :o) I'll be working on my secret graduation present projects for my friends for the majority of my break. I enjoy working on them though. Perhaps I'll make a few pictures when they're finished. You will all have to wonder with great anticipation untill I reveal their identity. They're for Amy, Heather, Nicole, and myself. Feel free to make a guess if you want.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In November miria_is_me and I robbed a bank (-50 points). In August I bought porn for nappy_napperson (-10 points). Last month on a flight to LA, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). Last Saturday I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). In February I ruled Duluth, Minnesota as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points).

Overall, I've been nice (592 points). For Christmas I deserve a shiny red ball!

So what's good about Auburn?

I like it because it's close to home. I have experienced some problems with being away from home, and I think that knowing that home was 30 minutes away would be pretty comforting. 2 hours seems like a long way when you're feeling lonely...Another reason is that if I decided to change my major, Auburn would have a lot more choices to offer me than the other two smaller colleges. Band, at Auburn also seems like a blast. I wouldn't have to worry about being the best at my instument either. Out of 300 some odd, only 75 are music majors, so I think I would feel a little more comfortable with my playing ability. I also know a few people in the band already. They all seem pretty nice, which changes my preconcieved notion about most of the Auburn students. Out of 200,000 I think I could find someone ok to hang out with. About the academic part of it all, I would have to work hard at Auburn, but I think I can handle it. I don't think I was giving myself any credit academically by saying maybe I wasn't good enough for Auburn. I am number 4 in my class. Also, I like what I see coming out of Auburn. A lot of my teachers went there and they're great. I don't know... it sounds like its a good choice to me. Anyone think any different?

So now I have 111. I'll try to get around to seeing the important one's that I haven't seen sooner or later, esepcially The Grudge. "meooow"- Heather

[10 Jun 2005|10:16am]
[ mood | happy ]

I finally decided to update this thing. Don't get too excited or anything; I wouldn't expect it to happen too often. ; )

The summer's going pretty good for the time being. Lately I've been reading up for my AP English classes. I started The Sun Also Rises. I like it pretty much. I've read more of it than I thought I would have at least. I have a ton more to read, but I guess it's just going to be one step at a time for now. I will probably have to refrain from reading Harry Potter for a while to get all of the important stuff seen about. Other new things to be on the look out for: Bo Bice's single! ( June 21! ) If there's two different songs on it, is it still a single, or is it a double? Oh who cares?

Other things I'm doing this summer...community band down in Auburn. This has turned out to be a lot more fun that I thought it was going to be. The music's harder, but not so hard that I can't play it. ( granted, I can't play all of it. ^-^ ) We're supposed to have two concerts, one on July 7 and the other on the 12th. (for those of you who may be interested : July 7 @ the Jule Collins Art Museum 6:00 CST ; July 12 @ Opelika Park 7:00 CST...and I honestly don't know where that is...)

Right now, my days are spent reading, practicing our wonderful marching music, and hanging out with Amy and Nicole. We had a blast the other day. We went to the pool at the spots plex. We're trying out hardest to not become lazy bums during the vacation. We've also been having car wash after car wash. We've managed to get rained out the last two times, but when I hear about the next one being scheduled, I will let you all know. I know there are dirty cars out there begging to be washed. We're trying to pay for camp and uniforms. Camp's in two weeks...I think that's right. I'm really looking forward to that. I'll get there and they'll probably tell me I conduct all wrong. That'll be okay, just as long as I know what I'm doing by our camp. ; )

Hope everyone's summer's going like they want it to.
